Bangla Council is envisioned as a platform for cultural activities that will foster international relationships and provide opportunities for Bangladeshi expatriates living in Dubai, UAE. Dubai's maritime desert climate demands careful design considerations to ensure the comfort and well-being of the occupants. The primary focus of the design process is sustainability, with a strong emphasis on vernacular
architecture solutions to address the local climate conditions.
The project takes inspiration from vernacular courtyard architecture, a proven solution in desert environments. A green central courtyard is proposed to evoke the essence of Bangladeshi traditional courtyards, providing a serene and shaded gathering space for various cultural activities. Through Ecotect simulation of sun path analysis, the form of
the building has been adjusted to optimize shading and enhance the overall user experience.
Mashrabiyah screens are used to provide a sense of privacy and shade while allowing for natural ventilation. These screens contribute to the overall aesthetic while serving a functional purpose. The design promotes an open and visually connected layout to reflect the harmonious lifestyle of the Bangladeshi people. This openness fosters
a sense of community and cultural exchange.
